A student needs a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent for admission into the graduate programs. The Master of Religious Studies Degree is forty five credits beyond the baccalaureate degree. If the students undergraduate degree is secular, ninety credits shall be required for this degree.
There is a ten thousand word thesis that is also required. Five credits are assigned to the completed and approved thesis project.
A thesis proposal must have the approval of the Registrar before the student begins to write their thesis.
Two completed copies must be submitted no later than the beginning of Summer Quarter before graduation. It must meet the final approval of the Seminary's faculty. This requirement is for both of the Master level degree programs.
The Master of Divinity Degree requires one hundred and thirty five credits beyond the baccalaureate degree.
Students may choose to specialize in one of the three specialized areas of ministry as part of this degree program.
A fifteen thousand word thesis is also required; ten credits are assigned to the completed and approved thesis. Three hundred hours of internship in an approved ministry is required for this degree. Fifteen praticucum credits are assigned to the completed internship.
Any student who wishes to specialize in a particular area of study may transfer credits from another institution offering like classes in their specialized area of ministry or interest, if they have been pre-approved by the Registrar.
To avoid any misunderstanding of credit value or approval, a signed contact must be placed in the student's file before these classes are taken. Please see page 36 and 37 for more information regarding Specialized Ministry.
Every effort will be made to accommodate any student who wishes to take workshops or classes from a source other than the Seminary.
An independent study course, facilitated by one of the Seminary faculty will be charged regular tuition rates.
It is the responsibility of the student to meet with the Registrar and inform him or her of their desire to have these credits applied to their transcripts, and to secure credit approval. The decision of the Registrar is final.
